Hi! I’m Jessica, the mom behind ‘Tampa Mom Runs’! First, thank you for stopping by! I’d like to share my story with you, you see I haven’t always been a runner!
On December 30th, 2012, we celebrated my youngest daughter’s first birthday. It was a great day and a very sweet former student took pictures during the party! They are some of the sweetest pictures that I will cherish forever, but I didn’t love the version of myself I saw in them. After a miscarriage followed by a not so health conscience pregnancy (I craved rice crispy treats!) and a lazy first year of my daughter’s life, I knew it was time for a change! With a little inspiration from childhood best friend and fellow runner, Caitlyn from Live.Sweat.Sleep.Repeat., I set out to running!
On January 16th, 2013, I went for my first run with the Couch to 5K app. After a few weeks of running, I tackled my first 5K and haven’t looked back since.Several years later, I am proud to look in the mirror. I am stronger, healthier and addicted to running now.
In 2013, I logged over 400 miles and ran my first half marathon! In 2014, I logged over 550 miles and ran my first full marathon! In 2015 I logged over 639 miles running or biking and traveled to Disneyland to earn the coveted Coast to Coast bling! 2016 has started off with a bang by fundraising for charity and running the Boston Marathon! Here’s my cheer squad – otherwise known as the family! My husband is also my boss – we run a regional office for Capital Insurance Agency in the Tampa Bay Area, manage a team of sales folks and cover 18 counties! My two daughters – Tori and Parker are the sweetest girls I know. Tori just turned 17 and Parker will be 5 before the end of the year!
