Last Thursday I was able to attend the Carrollwood Whole Foods for a Wine and Cheese event. This store is newer and it was a neat event!
Upon arrival I was a little confused on where to go, but the staff was very helpful and got me to the right place. There were five stations, each with a different region of wine. Every station had a pairing of cheese, fruit, meat or chocolate.
While I enjoyed them all, I was particularly fond of two (both of which are now in my house!)! The first was a Moscato. It was smooth and not overly sweet. It was amazing! This wine was at the table hosted by the wine buyer for the Carrollwood store, Amy. She is a level 2 Sommelier and incredibly knowledgeable!
I don’t consider myself very knowledgeable about wine, so I learned a few things and this was my favorite. This tag is a DOCG certification for wines that are made from grapes harvested exclusively from the region in which the vineyard is located. There are strict regulations for vineyards in Italy to get such a designation.
My second favorite was an orange wine sprintzer of sorts. It could be consumed alone, but we also had it added to some red wine to create an orange version of sangria! It was delicious and different. I also paired this one with chocolate and it was a perfect pairing!
This table was hosted by a gentleman named Mike. He was a hilarious guy that kept our group laughing. He also knew his stuff about wine!
This was my first event with the Tampa Bay Blogger group. There are a variety of bloggers and I enjoyed meeting a few of them during this event!
So now onto the good stuff…
