Recap of the ElectroDash and Strawberry Classic

12.4 miles in less than 12 hours… GO!!!

The first event was the ElectroDash on Friday night. It was a 5K fun run similar to the Color Me Rad that we did last year for Tori’s birthday last year, except at night with lights and sounds (minus the clothes staining color too!). I’m glad we arrived early as I’m not sure the packet pick up was as efficient as it could have been, but we got all our stuff, found some friends along the way, and then headed to the energy charged start!

David and I took it slow and enjoyed the time, as it wasn’t a timed event. After we got done, we didn’t hang around long because we were both starving, but the had a DJ that was doing burpee contests and dancing contests. We ended the night with dinner at Chili’s and I had pasta to carb up for the next morning.

The alarm rang early for the Strawberry Classic 15K the next morning. I hit all but one green light on my way down to Temple Terrace! I arrived with plenty of time to use the restroom and join in on the Strider Group Pic! This is an amazing race for its scenery – the trees, the houses, and the rolling landscape. The slight inclines and declines can make it a tough race, so I just tried to use the declines to my advantage in getting up the next incline. It was a different course from last year, so the change in scenery was nice. I was on target for a 1:40 finish, but I hit a wall in the last two miles. My legs got very heavy!

Strawberry
The best part of the race is all the strawberries at the end of the race. I ate two baskets and brought a third home. My hubby made French toast that I topped with strawberries and powdered sugar! Parker loved it!
