Gate River Run

For at least two weeks I kept a secret and for those of you that know me, know that is a big deal! I did have a few scheming partners, but I pulled off an epic surprise!
My mom registered for the Gate River Run 15k and I knew that I couldn’t let her run it alone! I surprised her at work on Friday and we ran together on Saturday!
We were in the purple wave and got to the race area early to miss the traffic.

The first bridge wasn’t that bad, but I was freaked out by the grate… I jumped up on the concrete sidewalk so I didn’t have to look down at the water!

This run took us through several neighborhoods where people from the community cheered us on! It was very neat!
There was even a very nice business owner that let us use their restroom!

There was even a sign for me! šŸ™‚

The last bridge was the Hart Bridge… Otherwise known as the green monster!

It was almost a mile long and lived up to its name, but the views from the top were amazing!

At the end of the day we were both so proud to have finished a 15k in a respectable time TOGETHER! We finished in 2:06:46, but my Nike watch said we went 9.55 miles, not 9.3. So I am sure that we completed a 15k in under 2 hours!

So here is what’s coming next:
March 23rd – Strawberry Classic 15K
April 11th – Tampa Bay Corporate 5K – Team Live.Sweat.Sleep.Repeat!
April 14th – Iron Girl Half Marathon

I also plan to keep my training up and start the next running season in October! If you had told me two months ago that I would run 9.3 miles, I probably would have laughed! But I am so grateful that I was able to get to this point! I will also be in need of some new clothes soon, not many of mine fit! šŸ™‚
Hint hint: my birthday is just around the corner!
