Brews with Attitude

Last Tuesday, David and I got a rare middle of the week date night to a unique event in Tampa.  Held at the Pepin Centre in Tampa, the Brews with Attitude event highlights local breweries as well as a few bigger names.

Upon entering, you were given a tester beer glass with a handy-dandy lanyard.  I wasn’t sure about this at first, but after a beer or two it became very useful!  Look mom, no hands!

At first glance, the event was overwhelming!  There were beer stations on the left:

And food trucks on the right:

We later discovered that inside the Pepin center, there were almost 20 more breweries sampling beers inside as well!

We arrived relatively early and began sampling beers.  Once of my first favorites was Pink Stuff from Black Fox Meadery located in Palm Harbor! This one was dangerous because it didn’t taste like alcohol at all!

My husband tried the more exotic beers, while I stuck to the fruity ones!  This was one of his favorites from Darwin Brewing in Bradenton! Hands down, the Big Top Brewery Key Lime was my ultimate favorite! They are located in Sarasota but I wish they were closer!

They did offer a non-beer option from Wine Stream – a local Tampa winery committed to enjoying wine while being environmentally friendly with their kegs of wine! I sampled the delicious Pinot Noir.We took a break in sampling to have some dinner at one of the food trucks and the decision was hard!  This was from The Dude and his Food from St Pete – a ribeye cheese steak called the Dude’s Irish Roots – with sauteed onions, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing!

A few more beers – I tried the one on the bottom of this list.  It was such a different flavor for a beer but so refreshing!  This beer was from the Florida Ave Brewing Company in Tampa!

We are from the north side of Tampa and it was nice to have Marker 48 Brewing to sample from Weeki Wachee!

The location at the Pepin Centre offered a beautiful location for hosting this event.  With indoor and outdoor space, it was a great mix and allowed those that wanted to smoke a cigar a place to do that.

Our last stop was at the Kona station, while they are not local to Florida, we felt the need to stop in since we just in Kona, Hawaii a few short weeks ago for vacation!

This was a delightful event and I would highly recommend doing it again next year! I will watch the calendar and make sure I share with my readers in plenty of time to plan a babysitter for a fun week night date night!

Disclaimer: I was given a pair of tickets for my honest review of the event.  All opinions are my own!

  1. Nice write up of a fun event! It was our first “Brews with Attitude”, too. I was overwhelmed by the crowd initially too! We were vendors there, right beside the Wine Stream. My husband & I own Steve’s Gourmet Olives, a Tampa-based business that specializes in marinated olives & Bloody Mary mixes. We are runners too, and I was intrigued by your blog. We are blessed to have so many great breweries and events like this in the area. I found you through my web surfing to investigate Wine Stream. Cheers! 1. Thanks for stopping by! Y’all were busy when we walked by and forgot to come back. It was such a big event 🙂
